A Biblioteca da FEUP publicou recentemente um novo guia sobre o tema “Revistas Predadoras”, dedicado a todos os interessados na publicação científica (estudantes do 2º e 3º ciclo, docentes investigadores, entre outros).

Procurando alertar para um lado mais nefasto da exploração da comunicação de ciência, que hoje em dia contamina o panorama da publicação científica, este guia tem por objetivo:

• Caracterizar o que são editores e revistas predadores;
• Ajudar a identificar as más práticas associadas ao seu modo de operar;
• Divulgar meios de ajuda para as evitar e ferramentas para as detetar;

Como complemento, também são oferecidas sessões de formação sobre esta temática.

Integrado na coleção de Guias online, esperamos que este novo guia venha a ser útil à Comunidade da FEUP!

FEUP’s Library recently published a new guide about "Predatory Journals", aimed at all those interested in scientific publishing (2nd and 3rd cycle students, faculty researchers, among others). 

Seeking to highlight a more nefarious aspect of science communication exploitation, which currently contaminates the landscape of scientific publishing, this guide aims at:

• Characterizing predatory publishers and journals;
• Helping to identify malpractices associated with their operation;
• Disseminating means to avoid them and tools to detect them.

As a complement, the Library also offers training sessions on this topic. 

Integrated into the collection of Library online Guides, we hope this new one will be useful to the FEUP Community!

Os estudantes do secundário que participaram na edição deste ano da Semana Profissão Engenheiro aceitaram o desafio de explorar o "Admirável Mundo da Informação" entre 19 e 21 de março na Biblioteca da FEUP.

A Biblioteca acolheu os estudantes nas suas instalações renovadas, começando por apresentar um vídeo para dar a conhecer os espaços, serviços e recursos de informação disponibilizados, bem como a equipa responsável pelo apoio à comunidade FEUP. Os estudantes fizeram depois uma visita guiada aos espaços de estudo e participaram num jogo interativo sobre a experiência que distribuiu brindes e boa disposição. No final os estudantes deixaram à Biblioteca impressões muito positivas sobre este nosso "admirável mundo da informação"!

High school students who participated in this year's edition of “Semana Profissão Engenheiro” accepted the challenge of exploring the “Wonderful World of Information" at FEUP’s Library, between March 19th and 21st. 

The Library welcomed the students in its renovated facilities, starting with a video presentation to introduce the spaces, services, and information resources available, as well as the team responsible for supporting FEUP’s community. The students then took a guided tour of the study spaces and participated in an interactive game about the experience, which distributed gifts and good vibes. In the end, the students left very positive impressions about our Library’s "wonderful world of information”!
 

Temos o prazer de o convidar a estar presente em duas sessões de formação presencial, que têm por objetivo aprofundar abordagens de exploração de três plataformas essenciais: Scopus, Inspec e Knovel. Conduzidas por especialistas experientes da Elsevier, estas sessões dar-lhe-ão conhecimentos inestimáveis para impulsionar as suas atividades académicas e de investigação.
As sessões serão em inglês e decorrerão dia 10 de abril na Sala de Formação da Biblioteca (C601 - Piso 6). A participação requer inscrição prévia mediante a lotação da sala.
